"You will know them from their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Therefore from their fruits you will know them." (Mt7:16,20)

Tourette Syndrome, named after the French person who observed the phenomenon, is... well... when the TV cameras started panning and showing the kids who were plagued with it... it sounded, for everything, like a dog kennel, full of tiny yapping dogs with high-pitched barks. These kids would bark, chirp, emit short screams. Some would be continually moving and twitching. In some cases, they would hit themselves (hard) in what was obviously a very painful self-torture.

When they first started showing these, my immediate witness through the Spirit was: DEMON POSSESSION. Even though I never attended the meetings, I was immediately reminded of the written reports from the Toronoto Vineyard and Pensacola (spiritual) "outpourings" from about a decade ago, where it was reported that people would be thrown across rooms, and would be overcome with hysterical laughter, barking, growling like animals. And when they would become 'slain', the women thus overcome would end up on the floor in immodest and suggestive poses, due to the garments they wear and the abandon with which they would fall to the floor; so others would go around and drape modesty clothes over them.

TS (barking/twitching) episodes are called "tics". According to the program, in addition to the twitching and barking, one form of tic manifestation is that the child, who was normally allegedly possessed of decency, would let fly with perverse swearing and blasphemy. (In several such cases, where the actual words had been bleeped out for TV, when the tic was over, the child would quickly cover their mouth in embarrassment and apologize) In other words, the tic episodes are apparently out of the self-control of the one suffering the affliction. In other cases, if a child was holding a camera and had a tic, would focus in on sexually suggestive frames of those being filmed.

And yet, the experts are trying to explain TS as being "neurologic". More specifically "synaptic"; having to do with the transmission of neural impulses between the brain and muscles, in motor functions.

Even though they readily admit to not knowing its origins, they also suggest that TS is "hereditary". And then, they showed a parent and a child, holding hands, and -praying-; not "in Jesus' name", but "in the name of Your Son". I then immediately had a question: WHAT CHURCH are they associated with? (the program didn't say) Do they speak in tongues there? Do they have other 'outpouring' sort of 'manifestations'? After all, if the parents go to such a church and involve themselves in the so-called 'charismatic' demonic gifts, what are the chances that their children will also pick up on things, being exposed to that environment?

They also apprently have special camps where many children, similarly afflicted, can get together, and be encouraged that they are not alone, nor are they lacking in self-worth because of the affliction, even though others in the 'real' world might poke fun at them for being 'strange'.

Since the 'experts' are in self-proclaimed ignorance as to its source, let us right now proclaim a bit of expertise in the matter, shall we? They made no mention of Scriptural concepts. They did not acknowledge the Creator. They observed the syndrome strictly in -physical- terms. So if they can claim to be experts, but they DON'T KNOW; am I not equally qualified to make some observations and proclamations. Dr. Becker speaking, here!! Ah yes!

So -what- causes the physical to function? Is it merely neurological cells, interacting chemically, based on our alleged evolutionary development over millions of years? What causes us to do some things, but not others?

"And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Gen2:7)

"For the soul of the flesh is in the blood," (Le17:11)

"But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding." (Job32:8:

"The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, searching all the inward parts of the belly." (Pr20:27)

"For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?" (1Co2:11)

--That which makes our bodies move and speak are muscles. The muscle is the basic motor entity, supplied with 'fuel' through the blood stream. What the muscles do is what other people see and hear. When another person observes what we call "personality" or "morality", what that person is observing, physically, is the movement of muscles.

--Control for what the muscles do is through the nervous system, originating at the brain. Neural activity makes muscles move. Lack of activity makes them limp...at rest.

--When science measures the brain during physical activity or mental thought, blood flow to those parts of the brain is in direct relationship. More brain activity... more blood flow.

--Scripture tells us that the soul is in the blood. The definition of life is in the blood. When God created man the words "living" and "soul" are linked together, being somewhat synonymous with each other.

--Scripture tells us that the core of our being and understanding is the spirit. In Biblical terminology the "heart" is said to be the core of the spirit. When we say something, it is the spirit that says it: "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (Mt12:34) When it says that man was made "in the image of God" (Gen1:27), we also understand that "God is Spirit" (Jn4:24) God is Spirit; we are spirits. Our bodies are merely "tents" (2Co5:1, 2Pt1:13-14) Thus, at the Resurrection, God raises the dead bodies, but it says that Jesus "will bring with Him those (a pronoun indicating personality) who sleep in Jesus" (1Th4:14) He brings the spirits of those who had previously died, and re-joins them with their bodies, which have been raised and glorified. (1Co15:52) At our core, we are spiritual beings. It is our spirits that give us thought, choice, morality, and the decisions which guide our physical lives. Our brains do not give us thought; they are merely the 'computer' which the spirit, through the blood/soul, operates; which in turn makes the body move and speak.

Jesus had a meeting with a man who could not be bound with chains. He had super-human strength. He would continually cry out and -cut- himself. (Mk5:2-5) Just like these depicted with TS who would hit themselves? Years ago I drove school bus for special-needs children. One of the (so-called) "behavioral" kids would sit there, muttering, and banging his head against the (metal) bus window frames. What was the cause of this one Jesus met? He had an "unclean spirit". With that kid on my school bus I always witnessed in my spirit that it was demonic influence. But the governmental/school 'system' was responsible for him, and drugged him up; like they did the rest of the 'behavioral' kids.

There was another case where a child was being thrown into the fire or water in attempts to destroy him. He would foam at the mouth, gnash with the teeth, and would go into fits of convulsion. (Mk9) What was the cause? A "mute spirit". (vs17) Also called an "unclean spirit" (vs25) When Jesus cast it out, He did so with the warning, "and enter him no more" (vs25)

"And His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all the sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them." (Mt4:24)

"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, being devoted to corrupting spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy..." (1Ti4:1-2)

"And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go forth to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." (Rev16:13-14)

"And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every unclean spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual perversities..." (Rev18:2-3)

"But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who consider it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, delighting in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having EYES FULL OF ADULTERY and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; ACCURSED CHILDREN." (2Pt2:12)

What does it take to be demon-possessed? Availability. An empty house.

"When an unclean spirit goes out from a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return to my house from which I came out. And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first." (Lk11:24-26)

"He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters." (vs23)

We are familiar with Jesus words that "no one is able to serve two masters" (Mt6:24); but notice that a person cannot be 'neutral'. There is no such thing as hanging suspended in limbo. Jesus says that if a person is not -with- Him, they are -against- Him. And anybody who is against Him (not with Him) is 'fair game' for the demons.

As sure as this topic has just been addressed again, there is sure to be somebody who will write, as they have in the past, saying something like: I am a blood-washed spirit-filled christian, speak in tongues, do miracles, and I'm not demon-possessed. HOW DARE YOU call me an unbeliever and DEMON-POSSESSED!!! And if a few e-mails are exchanged, it has pretty much -always- happened in the past that, when their own words have clearly indicated of what their heart consists, and I point out their own words back to them, that they will close off communications with swearing, cursing and blasphemy. Out of the "abundance of their heart"

"Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." (1Co12:3)

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me..." (Mt19:14)

But who is going to draw them out of their pagan darkness, the pagan churches, and bring them to Christ?

"...to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in [Jesus Christ]." (Ac26:18)
