" You Thought that I was like Yourself "

"Gather My saints to Me; and those who cut My covenant by sacrifice." (Ps50:5)

When the saints are gathered to the Lord, who is left? God says, "Hear, My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God. (vs7) Does God "need" sacrifice and praise from man? Does He "need" man to "give" Him animal sacrifices? He says, "every beast of the forest is Mine.." (vs10)

To the righteous He says, "Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the Most High." (vs14) Worship is for the righteous.

But of the wicked God says, "What is it to you, to declare My statutes, and to take up My covenant in your mouth?" (vs16) The wicked hate to be taught God's Word. Christian, do you wonder why it feels like you are beating your head against a brick wall when confronting the errors of the wicked? They "don't WANT" God's Word...even though they pretend.

The wicked delights in theft, adultery, slander. And when God doesn't immediately "zap" them, they assume that "[God is] like [them]"(vs21)

For a while there has been quite a marketing scheme with trinkets for "WWJD." (What Would Jesus Do?) Today I received an e-mail advertisement for a new one, "R-U-100percent Sure?" And the hype is that it's "even bigger and more exciting" ... A new "witnessing tool, to draw them in." T-shirts and bracelets asking "R-U-100% Sure?" and is touted as the "hottest in Christian products on the market. See for yourself the new T-Shirt and bracelet that is sweeping the country."

And then, in my mailbox (also today) was a brochure for a "Prophecy Seminar" to be held this next week in town. They have a depiction of a "picture of Jesus" on the front. Of course, "he" is wearing robes. But the face, a "perfect" tan, the slicked-back shiney long hair, and the expression in the eyes reminds me of a casino/night-club high-rolling play-boy.

They try to "market jesus." But Jesus chased the thieves out of the temple. "Jesus" movies have Him depicted as a hippy who rolls around in the dirt with the "common folk" ... or, as a wealthy, sex-hungry, sensuous "lady-killer." Because, this is what people are; they don't want to repent of their sins. And rather than submit to God's holy standard, they bring Him down to their gutter; as He says, "You thought that I was like yourself."

"What? Should mankind complain [against God], a living man, because of his sins? The prophet laments over Israel, "We have sinned and have rebelled; You have not forgiven." (Lam3:39,42)

Of our days Paul writes, "But evil men and seducers will go forward to worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2Tim3:13) They seduce with entertainment. This same Prophecy/Revelation brochure that pictures the "high-rolling Jesus" also invites people to the "Grand Opening Night Spectacular." By contrast, Jesus would continually tell people to "not tell anyone" what He had just done, in healing them. His announcer, John the baptist, would retort to people swarming to him, "who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?" (Mt3:7) Go back and bring forth fruits indicative of a changed heart..of "repentance." (vs8)

When they "market" Jesus for profit, they totally ignore His teaching, "You cannot serve God and mammon." (Mt6:24) When Simon wanted to "purchase" God's gift with money, Peter said, "You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God."(Acts8:21)

To Simon, Peter said, "Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours.."(vs22) God warns those who try to bring Him down to their level, "but I will rebuke you, and set in order before your eyes. Now think of this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver." (Ps50:21b-22)

However, "whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and he who sets a way, I will show him the salvation of God." (vs23) The evil will continue and grow, on to the end times, but to the Believer (Timothy) Paul urged, "But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.."(2Tim3:14)

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Is55:8-9)
