Re: Foul-tongued blasphemers
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how
great a forest a little fire kindles. And the tongue is a fire, a
world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it
defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it
is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile
and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But
no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly
poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men,
who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth
proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to
be so. (Jas 3:5-10)
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even
be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor
foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather
giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean
person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in
the kingdom of Christ and God. (Eph 5:3-5)
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ravenous wolves. "You will know them by their
fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
"Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad
fruit. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear
good fruit. "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and
thrown into the fire. "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
"Not everyone who says to Me,' Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will
say to Me in that day,' Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your
name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your
name?' "And then I will declare to them,' I never knew you; depart
from Me, you who practice lawlessness]' (Matthew 7:15-23)
