Yes, I'm not sure but it seems to me that from reading your subscriptions that you are somewhat against the Charismatic Churches. Maybe I shouldn't use the word 'against' but I not sure what else to call what I believe I'm hearing. What is it that bothers you when Christians 'bind Satan and his demons'? I listen to "Carman". Do you disagree with his ministry??

Let me ask you one question. Where in Scripture does it tell us to "bind Satan?" You won't find it. Nowhere will you find it commanded for us to go out offensively looking for Satan to fight him. The armor we are given in Eph6:10-17 is "defensive." And we are told to "stand" against him (vs13)...not, go after and chase him. He goes about "like a roaring lion"(1Pt5:8) and attacks us...and we stand against him. But the attacking and victory is won by God the Father and Jesus Christ. (Gen3:15,1Cor15:57,Heb1:13)

Some people erroneously quote "on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Mat16:18-19)

Catholics use this passage to condone the papacy. Charismatics use it to do many of the things they do. But, please notice...who is on the offensive in this passage? The Church? or the "gates of hell?" And you notice, Satan will not be able to "prevail against" the Church... literally, "be victorious, overcome, annihilate" it.

(This, by the way, is another support for the "pre-trib" Rapture position of the Church. In Rev13:7 it says that the "beast" would "overcome" the Saints. Either Jesus lied, or He didn't. The truth of the matter is that they are two different groups of people. All who believe in Christ throughout history are "Saints." But right now, we are also called the "Church." It is the Church which will be pre-tribulationally raptured.)

The "binding" Jesus talks about in Matthew has more to do with the Apostolic ministry the disciples would have. Which died when they died. But that's a whole 'nuther subject.

However, the actual "binding" that is to be done TO SATAN is by the "strong angel" (Rev20:1-3) as he is then shut up in the bottomless pit. And is yet future tense.

The so-called "binding" that I have seen/heard fits the catagory of those who "speak evil of dignitaries" (Jude8) and is only, merely in the imaginations. Even Michael did not "bind" satan, but said, "The Lord rebuke you." 2Pet2:10-12 is a related passage. Regarding "Carman." I know he is quite a popular person these days. All the churches send their young people to hear him, etc. My only exposure to him was about a week or so ago...as he was hosting a half-hour TV selling program for CD's and tapes. This tape series was on (I believe) "faith." Various aspects of "faith." Through the whole time I waited to hear "anything" about God, Scripture, Jesus Christ, being born again as a Christian. NOT ONE WORD!! It was all "meditation," feel good, testimonials how the tapes had helped people kick drugs, be more "pure" be more loving to their families, etc.etc. and on and on. Wonderful things, certainly. But they left out THE ONE WHO makes it all happen. And Carman was hosting the thing. Needless to say...I was not impressed.

Thank you for writing back to me ! ! I think you might have misunderstood my question. I know that Jesus is the one who actually binds the devil. When I use the word bind I don't mean going after him. I wouldn't know who to do this even if I wanted to. I was simply asking is you believe that when you feel Satan is working in your head to try to get you disbelieve Jesus, or make you feel bad about your self etc. (these are just examples) that because we (I) are bought by the blood of Jesus that we can verbally say "In the name of Jesus I bind you. You have know business here. I have been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ so let me go". Resist the devil and he must flee. Do you understand what I am trying to tell you. Once again I realize that I am not the one who actually binds the devil, but Jesus does.

If we were to "bind" satan, it would be kinda hard for him to "flee" now, wouldn't it. ...OK...so I got "that" out of the way.(smile)

Actually, we want to spend as LITTLE TIME as possible communicating with satan. Not even give him any attention. If you can relate at all to the piece I sent out "More than Conquerors" ...the idea of the street hoodlums surrounding, or harrassing you... "they" say that the best posture towards such is to try to ignore them as much as possible.

I used to subscribe to some motorcycle magazines, and I recall one safety article talking about coming into a place like a rest area that is deserted, except for a vehicle or two of unsavory-looking people. The article said the best approach is to not even look their direction very much. Not even acknowledge that they are there...and simply ride on through, and back out to the highway. Attract as little attention as possible. They won't be as likely to get in their vehicles and chase or harrass.

Satan knows the "drill." He knows he's been beat by Christ. We don't need to preach a sermon to him and explain why we "would LIKE him to leave." It's more like Jesus' words, "get behind me Satan"(Mt16:23) ...or... "be gone."(Mt4:10) Short-n-sweet...to the point. like swatting at a fly or mosquito. No long ceremony. Just...Swack!! -g- Remember what happened to Eve when she "engaged in conversation" with Satan!!!

And finally, the term "bind" doesn't even enter the picture from a Scriptural standpoint. That is a charismatic fabrication.

When Satan appeared to the Woman (she wasn't named Eve yet), the actual Hebrew words are nachash translated "serpent" which really menas "shining one". The word chay translated "beast of the field" which really means "living creature". I believe that Satan appeared as himself to the Woman. When God cursed him, Satan was put to the ground in humiliation.

what do you think personally about the Roswell experience?

It would seem apparent that the government is covering something up...from what I can sense between the lines. Of course...it all happened before I was born. The whole UFO thing is most likely a demonic thing.

Having heard him, I am not going to link to this site from VW...but there is a lot of useful information there.

When he was here last week-end, he spent almost the whole evening session on UFO's. Consider Gen 6:4...the intermingling of fallen angels and human women, and their offspring. Consider Daniel 2:43 "they will mingle with the seed of men." In other words...what was happening in Genesis 6, "will happen" again...and likely already is. Jesus said, "as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man."(Lk17:26) If you consider that in practically every UFO "abduction" case, where the abductee remembers anything, the account is always similar. Something sexual in nature. Usually reproductive. Usually, women are abducted....and likely impregnated...and then abducted again, to "give birth" or provide the result of the incubation.

This is UFO's in general. I don't know about Roswell. But pretty much all cultures throughout history have alien/UFO stories. UFO's have been around much longer than just since 1947. For centuries. And appear in the "art" of ancient civilizations.

Wonderful message. I, too, experience these things from "christians" (little "c") who don't even believe the Word is of God. They've told me that God was right, but that the translators got it all wrong. I believe ONLY God is truth and His Word and that alone are truth! I share your outlook for this country. Mr. Gore was right when he said, "What's up should be down and what's down should be up"! He just didn't know it. What's "right" should be wrong and what's "wrong" should be right. The world is upside down!!! This is yet another clear sign that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is (as they used to say) waiting to return. He has his hand on the door handle. Truth is a casualty today---and nobody seems to care. It's like they're saying "tell us more lies--that's what our ears want to hear"! There is evil everywhere you turn--even in churches--although it's masked and "presentable" for "public consumption". I wish I could grab onto the world's "shoulders" and shake it, then scream in its face, "will you please wake up"? (OK, I'm on my soapbox this morning.)

I OWNED A CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE IN (name of city). A MAN CAME IN AND BOUGHT A BUNCH OF STUFF, OVER A PERIOD OF TWO DAYS HE SPENT $500.00 DOLLARS...OF COURSE HE PAID ME WITH RUBBER CHECKS. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE CHECKS CAME BACK FROM THE BANK HE CAME IN, NOT TO PAY ME, TO LAUGH AT ME FOR, AS HE PUT IT, BEING SO STUPID. HE CAME IN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS EACH TIME GOT WORSE. Thanks for sharing this. I don't have that much problem with rubber checks. The biggest problem is the orders made, not picked up (nor paid for). But even that isn't as bad as, I'm sure, it could be.

And then there's the current account, submitted for "collections." The notable "feature" of the order was the call 10 minutes after the initial order, to add to the descriptive words (describing their business offerings/characteristics) the word... "Christian."

Which reminds me of the comedienne on David Letterman the other night. (No, I don't watch him regularly, but was sleeping in front of the TV after the late news, channel clicking...and had seen that E.Holyfield was going to be interviewed about Tyson's "lunch meat") Anyway, during a waking moment this comedienne, amongst other things, told about a friend of hers who became a "Born-Again Christian"... (uh, grunt, pause) ..."PATHOLOGICAL LIAR." Kinda tells the story the world sees of "pretend christians" doesn't it!

OK. Back on track here. You are right about what my "neighbor" Should Do! But "should" and "does" are two different things, aren't they. But, as you noted...when the person became a Christian, he came to you and made restitution.
