Holy Living...

This past weekend I went...to the movies. We saw two movies that
night... Satan got his foot in the door on Me. I was enjoying seeing
the pretty women in these movies with there low cut dresses and high
cut skirts. Then..I rented a R rated movie...which was trash from the
start, I should not even have rented it. ...it got me thinking that I
needed to see more. So I turned off the video and I was going surfing
on the internet for what I was being seducced from the start of the
movies... I [then] turned on My webtv, I was on a women hunt. But
before I could get started My red light was on my webtv box indicating
that I had a message. So I went to my mail box and saw that I had three
messages from you. I read my mail from you and my desire to go women
hunting left me.
Thanks for being there for me. I know now that I can't watch R rated
movies anymore. I'm going to have to be careful what I watch on Tv.
(Greatly condensed, and names of movies and details edited)

Hello, I just wanted to say your articles are of much encouragement and
to continue in the good work of the "Lord"(your puctuation is not a
promblem). The article on Holiness was good, reason being I am
prayerfully studying this. Walking in holiness in a true and living
way before the Lord or knowing this as a doctrine only.
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves
from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the
fear of God".(2 Cor.7:1)
A.
Yes..to be "doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceving
yourselves...but he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and
continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work,
this one will be blessed in what he does." (~Jas 1:22-25)
Praying in the Holy Spirit...How can I be sure I'm Saved?
Comment:
Thank you for the above message - or I should say thank you God for the
direction of this message. This is exactly what my Pastor teaches and
I'm thrilled to see it on the Internet. May the Lord bless your
ministry.
Q.
HELLO AGAIN ....I READ YOUR LETTER ON BEING SAVED OR NOT ..?... IT WAS
VERY GOOD ..BUT I HAVE NEVER SPOKE IN TONGUES AND IT BOTHERS ME ..DOES
THIS MEAN I,M NOT SAVED.?.I DO BELIEVE IN THE GIFTS BUT THAT ONE
ESCAPES ME..COULD YOU SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE MATTER PLEASE...
THANKS FOR THE NEWS LETTERS...
Q.
I just wanted to comment on something Ive been hearing lately. Praying
in tongues...I personally have no idea what that is....A lot of peeps
have told me that the reason I dont know is because everyone doesnt
have the same gift. Well I dont believe that you have to "speak in
tongues" in order to communicate with God. If the Holy Spirit is
within you He will make intercession for you because you dont know how
or what to pray for or about. I also have mixed feelings about peeps
who claim to "speak in tongues" period. I dont think what they
consider "speakin in tongues" is what God gave to his disciples. I
know they spoke "mysteries" because they didnt know what they were
saying, but others did. Anyway....I just wanted to respond....I catch
myself in this discussion a lot...
I love your VW and especially this one on prayer....
A.
It sounds like you have a pretty clear understanding on the matter. The
tongues in Acts 2 was not so much what was spoken, as "what was
heard."(Act2:8) And yes...we don't need some other language to pray to
God. The Holy Spirit takes care of that for us.
Q.
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit...(Jude1:20)
"..praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being
watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the
saints; (Eph6:18)
(Quoted from "Praying in the Holy Spirit.")
Please tell me specifically ------- does the above mean praying in
tongues as Paul says in 1Cor:14, and is practiced by most Penticostal
and Charismatics.
A.
No it doesn't. It means, praying through the Holy Spirit praying on our
behalf because we don't know how we ought to pray, adequately.
(Rom8:26)
What is CALLED "praying in tongues" or "speaking in tongues" as it
occurs today is not of the Holy Spirit. It is of other spirits. And if
it is not of the Holy Spirit...it is pretty easy to know "who" it is
from. How can I make such a "bold" statement? Based on Scriptural
directives.
A verse I had on my note paper as I wrote the piece on prayer, did not
make it into the piece...as it was more the topic of August's article
"The Holy Spirit." And touches on this a bit, as the "spirits of the
prophets are subject to the prophets."(1Cor14:32) (This article is now
available under "Articles" at the website...will be e-mailed when
August gets here.)
But the verse from my notes was 1Cor14:15. "What is the result then? I
will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding.
I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the
understanding."
This is in STARK CONTRAST with that which passes for "spirit-filled"
activities of these groups. These activities are NOT "with the
understanding." Nor are the spirits in question "subject TO" the
participants.
Amen!
